Mission Tomorrow 2009
October 9th, 2010

Thank you all for your support for the Society of St Peter the Apostle. As you know, I believe SPA is one of the jewels of the Church – and all the more precious because it goes about its work quietly but effectively.

We continue to be the only organisation in the Church which supports ALL seminarians in the mission territories of the Church – all 31,000 of them. This is vital work – without SPA young men and female novices would be turned away. We – YOU – guarantee that no-one is turned away simply because of money.

The news from our friends this year is very good. You can see from the Rectors’ reports that numbers are either rising or staying steady and, because of the help you provide, necessary works are being completed.

The seminarians of Sri Lanka continue to be an inspiration. You will have heard that the civil war has finished and the work of rebuilding can begin. The seminarians know that their choice of life is a hard one; they will be asked to serve in areas which have been devastated and there will be a lot of healing work needed. Several priests were martyred during the conflict along with catechists and lay leaders. Pray for them, please – for their faith, their courage and their endurance.

I know there are many demands on your generosity and so I thank you for choosing to support SPA. Please support our work this year and I would be grateful if you would consider leaving a gift in your Will. It is one of the most certain ways of ensuring that your faith does not die – that you have something you really treasure to hand on to the next generations.

Thank you
