We all have very important concerns that are close to our hearts. We often offer them to Our Lord during Mass and ask the priest to say Mass for that intention. Traditionally, we have also made a donation to the priest - a 'Mass offering' – which helps towards the upkeep of the priest and the parish.
Many of our supporters like to help mission dioceses in this way and send us their Mass intentions. It is a very important way of helping to support the new Church, and there is no better way than through celebrating the Mass.
The offerings help to maintain local priests in mission dioceses in the poorest areas, and those teaching in seminaries. They are particularly important in areas where war, famine and natural disasters mean that priests have no stable income.
We guarantee the safe distribution of the Masses by using the 'Missio family'. Fr Bernard Makadani from Zambia wrote:
'I thank you most sincerely for your great generosity. The offerings will provide great support to us priests, to our parishes and to the institutions we serve. All the Masses entrusted to me will be distributed and celebrated for the intention of the donor. Please convey my special thanks to all our benefactors. May God bless you abundantly'.
Please send your intentions; these may be for someone who has died or who is sick, a private intention or for the intentions of the living.
The usual offering for a Mass is £5, although you may wish to give more.
Cheques should be made out to: Missio/Mass A/c (please do not include cash) and sent to
