Thank you for celebrating World Mission Sunday on 19 October. This special day is chosen by the Pope as an opportunity for Catholics worldwide to join together to pray for the missionary work of our Church and to give what we can to parishes overseas that need our help.
The World Mission Sunday Collection – one of just three personally requested by our Holy Father each year – supports every parish in need overseas. In 2014 Missio focussed on the desperate situation of our brothers and sisters living in camps for internally displaced people in northern Myanmar (formerly known as Burma).
Missio welcomed Fr Paul Lum Dau, representing Bishop Francis, to London for the week of World Mission Sunday. Fr Paul serves with Bishop Francis in the diocese of Mytikyina, where hundreds of people (most of whom are Christians), have been made homeless as a result of civil war.
